Dovestone Reservoir, Oldham

Dovestone Reservoir is on the western edge of the Peak District National Park.
It is a beautiful place to spend a day out. We went there by bus. It is a bit tricky but it can be done and definitely worth it. We went there from Oldham, and got off by Clarence Hotel, then a mile walk to get to the reservoir.

Dove Stone is open all year round, with the public toilets open dawn till dusk. The site is managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in partnership with Oldham Council, United Utilities and the Peak District National Park.

Swimming is forbidden in the lakes.

Please don’t drop your rubbish, it was very sad to see cans and bottles there.

You can download a route map from the Peak District National Park website.

We visited Dovestone Reservoir in August 2021.
